This is not an easy shot to get as the road around the lake is closed in the winter. I parked at the end of the access road that was cleared, slept in my truck until 2:30AM, then skied the 4 or 5 miles in the dark to get in position near Wizard Island. The snow in the foreground is actually an overhanging cornice so I had to be super careful not to get too close to the edge, lest the cornice collapsed sending me over a 100ft cliff and a further 300ft tumble to the lake below.
